The village of Cortina is divided into six districts, called Sestieri d’Ampezzo:
They represent the local communities and have their own historical and culinary traditions publicly expressed in numerous folklore events that give continuity to social relations and vitality to the cultural heritage of the Ampezzo valley. The most popular are the Feste campestri between July and August for dancing and enjoying gastronomic specialities, as well as the various sporting competitions like the Palio delle Contrade in summer or Ra Corsa dei Sêstiére on cross-country skis in winter.
