SESTIERI D'AMPEZZO

The village of Cortina is divided into six districts, called Sestieri d’Ampezzo:

  • Alverà which includes the Sestiere of the same name, as well as the areas of Pecol, Pralongo, Staulin, Grava di Sopra, Grava di Sotto.
  • Azòn which includes Crignes, Val di Sotto, Val di Sopra, Gilardon, Lacedel, Meleres and Mortisa.
  • Cadìn which includes Ronco, Cadelverzo, Cadin di Sopra and Cadin di Sotto.
  • Chiave which includes Verocai, Majon, Chiamulera, Chiave, La Vera and Codivilla.
  • Cortina which encompasses all the areas in the centre, from Corso Italia to Cianderies, to the end of Via delle Guide Alpine.
  • Zuèl which includes Cojana, Riva, Salieto, Campo, Manaigo, Peziè, Zuel, Pian da Lago, Acquabona.

They represent the local communities and have their own historical and culinary traditions publicly expressed in numerous folklore events that give continuity to social relations and vitality to the cultural heritage of the Ampezzo valley. The most popular are the Feste campestri between July and August for dancing and enjoying gastronomic specialities, as well as the various sporting competitions like the Palio delle Contrade in summer or Ra Corsa dei Sêstiére on cross-country skis in winter.
