From the centre of Cortina, take the road in the direction of Toblach and near the Hotel Trieste turn right through the village of Verocai; after about 1 km, turn left towards the old Guargné ski lifts.
Leave your car in the car park of the former municipal swimming pool in Cortina, take the beaten road that runs along the former ski slope and continue for about an hour and a half to Rifugio Mietres.
You will be surrounded by forest and mountains: the Pomagagnon stands out imposingly behind the characteristic mountain hut, Monte Cristallo will be right in front of you and the Faloria, Sorapis, Tofane and the entire Valle d’Ampezzo to your right. On the hut’s large terrace, kissed by the sun until sunset, you’ll be able to enjoy traditional Ampezzo dishes. For those who wish to reach the Rifugio Mietres in less time, it is possible to leave from the “El Brite de Larieto” farmhouse on the Tre Croci Pass and follow trail sign 211 to the mountain hut in just over half an hour.
For the return journey, follow the same route as the outward journey. The route is not particularly difficult, except in terms of length, drop and variable snow cover conditions.
It is always advisable to rely on the Mountain Guides and consult the snow and weather service before any hike.
The indicated time is for a round trip.
