Rescue Permafrost

Description

Tofana – Freccia nel Cielo at the top station of the Pian Ra Valles – Bus Tofana chairlift hosts the innovative research project Rescue Permafrost.

Born from the awareness that climate change represents a significant threat to several mountain ecosystems, it aims to prevent or slow down the process of melting permafrost, caused by the diffusion of heat from the surrounding masses.

A concrete example of how human ingenuity and technological innovation can help mitigate the effects of climate change on permafrost in Alpine areas.

The route guided by 12 informative educational panels can be visited and reached on foot with a scenic hike of about 50 minutes from Ra Valles.
