Ristorante Lago Ghedina
The Sasso di Colfiére is, after the Cinque Torri, one of Cortina's first climbing areas, both because of its convenient approach from Cortina and because, despite the boulder's modest size, it offers a climb that’s great for training. The wall is located on the slopes of Col Drusciè at an altitude of 1,480 metres, is between 8 and 15 metres high and faces east. You can climb it from April to November, and even after rainy days it dries out quickly. The wall is vertical or slightly overhanging and the rock type is Dolomite main rock with holes and a climbing style that allows the fingers and forearms to be strengthened. There are 11 routes on the main wall, and a further four on the back side with grades of medium difficulty, between 6a and 7b. The top of the rock is also accessible on foot and it is therefore very easy to put the rope down from above. Due to its easy accessibility, it is a popular crag for local climbers, especially on spring evenings after work. It is also possible to train solo by making horizontal traverses at different heights.
Approach: from Cortina, go up towards Passo Falzarego to Gilardon, turn right and follow the signs for the Tofana lifts and Lago Ghedina. After about 2 km, turn right, following the signs for Lago Ghedina and continue for about one hundred metres to a car park on the right. Opposite the car park, take a dirt road that in 200 m leads to the Sasso, which is not very visible from afar as it is located behind a wooded hill.
