Croda da Lago round trip

Description

From the centre of Cortina take the road towards Passo Falzarego. After about 20 minutes, when you reach the village of Pocol, turn left towards Passo Giau. When you reach the Malga Pezié de Parù, on the left, you will find a car park at the level of an obvious sign for the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites. Cross the Peziè de Parù bridge and follow trail sign 434 into the forest until you reach the small Cason de Formin. Continue along the Val de Formin until you reach the fork of the same name along trail sign 435. From here, keeping to the left, you’ll reach Forcella Ambrizzola and, descending along path 434, Rifugio Croda da Lago, next to the beautiful Lago Federa. Continuing along the same trail sign, go around the northern edge of the Croda da Lago massif to rejoin the previously travelled path at Cason de Formin.

The route may be challenging due to its length, drop and variable snow cover conditions.

It is highly advisable to rely on the Mountain Guides and consult the snow and weather service before any hike.
