Great War snowshoe hike

Difficulty

Time

2 h

Info

Length:

3 km

Height difference:

248 m

Description

Starting from the Rifugio Col Gallina, go up the ski slopes and turn left just before the top station of the chairlift.

Take the “Limedes” slope, descending on your right, and follow it all the way to the top station of the ski lift.

From here, continue on easy terrain where you’ll be able to admire some military posts dating back to the Great War fought in the Dolomites between 1915 and 1918.

Throughout winter it is possible, by prior arrangement, to be accompanied by historical re-enactors dressed in the clothes of soldiers during the First World War who will share anecdotes and stories from the years of the conflict. The experience also includes a meal at Cima Gallina at the War Outpost. The route may present difficulties related to snow cover conditions and terrain morphology.

It is always advisable to rely on the Mountain Guides and consult the snow and weather service before any hike.

The indicated time is for a round trip.
