Leave the car at Campo di Sotto, at the car park above Lago di Pianozes.
Take the beaten road in the direction of Malga Federa/Rifugio Croda da Lago indicated by trail sign 432. The road will take about 2 hours and 6 km to reach the mountain cottage. The cottage is located in an enchanting spot, in the middle of a clearing surrounded by forest and mountains, with a splendid view of the Valle d’Ampezzo: Croda da Lago and Becco di Mezzodì on one side, Pomagagnon, Cristallo and Faloria on the other.
You may continue along the same road for about an hour to the characteristic Rifugio Croda da Lago, overlooking the lake of the same name. For the return journey, follow the same route as the outward journey. The route is not particularly difficult, except in terms of length, drop and variable snow cover conditions.
It is always advisable to rely on the Mountain Guides and consult the snow and weather service before any hike.
The indicated time is for a round trip.
