Piazza Angelo Dibona
Piazza Angelo Dibona
Start in Piazza Angelo Dibona early in the morning, under Cortina's bell tower, and then continue along Via del Castello - which is after the end of the pedestrian walkway - to the junction for Cadin, to the left of the main road. After crossing the State Road, climb up towards Cadin, and passing its pretty little church, you reach the last houses of the Cadin di Sopra hamlet, where you take CAI path 410, which leads to Lago Ghedina. From here on, there will be no other rest stops for 3-4 hours. It is therefore advisable to make sure you carry water with you. Take path 409 to Passo Posporcora. Descend along path 408 to the junction with path 417 at Pian de Ra Spines. Continue to the Sant'Uberto car park, from where take the junction to the cycle path that leads to the Rifugio Ospitale, a welcoming structure that once housed pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela (closed for summer 2020). Then continue for a further 7 km or so, with 700 m of elevation gain, along path 203, along the Val Padeon to spend the night at the Son Forca mountain hut on Monte Cristallo.
