Trail of the Trenches

Description

From the Rifugio Averau, which can be reached in summer with the Fedare chairlift from the Passo Giau, follow the path sign 440 northwards, until the Sentiero delle Trincee (signposted, but unmarked) turns to the left. Follow the track below the imposing Averau group westwards, until you come out onto the path with the path sign 441, which leads to the left (south), leading easily (from below the area appears inaccessible) to the Forcella Averau. From here, it is almost flat again to the Rifugio Averau, which offers a well-deserved rest stop.
