The desire to put the boots back on is getting stronger, and, as every summer, the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation has proposals for walking together in the discovery of the World Heritage. This year, the focus will be on the geology of the Natural Parks.

The UNESCO Dolomites Foundation proposes a series of initiatives aimed at promoting a slow and conscious relationship with the mountains, helping participants understand the reasons that led to the UNESCO recognition, the rules to follow to experience the mountains safely, the daily challenges faced by those who manage the territory even at high altitudes, such as refuge managers, and the importance of knowing how to read the landscape to grasp aspects that go beyond the “Instagrammable” aesthetic impact.

After various editions of “Meetings at High Altitude” and the experiences of #livinginrefuge, this year the focus will be entirely on the geological landscape, thanks to the presence of experts, geologists, alpine guides, and medium mountain escorts, as well as the collaboration of the Natural Parks in the area, true guardians of biodiversity and the Outstanding Universal Values of World Heritage.

There’s also space for the glaciers and other geological peculiarities of the Dolomites of Ampezzo, where on September 4, we will be accompanied to the Biella refuge by Michele Da Pozzo, the director of the Natural Park of the Dolomites of Ampezzo, geologist Emiliano Oddone, and medium mountain guide Laura Olivotto.
