IN: Piazza Angelo Dibona
An August evening in downtown Cortina d'Ampezzo to relax while listening to the notes of Josmil Neris, a Dominican singer with a warm and intense voice.
Since she was a child, she has breathed in the creative soul of Latin American culture and over the years has experimented with her vocal skills with the great classics of black music, Spanish and Caribbean folklore, defining an expressive and refined style.
In 2015, she launched her first project "Akma duo" focused on traditional and contemporary Spanish music, and in 2018 she recorded the album "Siguiendo el amor".
In 2018, she became a backing vocalist in the "Hallelujah Gospel Singers" of American singer Cheryl Porter, collaborating with international artists including Marco Mengoni and Zucchero.
In 2020, she defined her latest project "Quiero el Sur" on Hispanic American folklore reinterpreted in a jazz key.
She has participated in festivals and showcases in Italy and abroad.
With Quiero el Sur, Josmil Neris tells of her Spanish and Afro-Caribbean roots, searching for the beauty of that music which still constitutes an integral part of a precious cultural heritage.
Bolero, son, flamenco are just a few styles included in this rich mosaic of fragmented yet distinct memories that refer to the peculiar imprint of the Latin American people in Central/South America and the world.
An exciting live performance thanks to original arrangements that allow musicians to express themselves through jazz improvisation, creating a unique and always engaging show.
