Historical reenactment at the Averau refuge
The historical reenactors of the Welsch Tiroler Historische Vereinigung will recreate the atmosphere of the time with uniforms, rifles, displays, and even a field cannon. The Welschtiroler Historische Vereinigung is a free amateur association dedicated to historical reenactment, established with the aim of evoking the civil and military events of South Tyrol between 1511 and 1918.
These are professionals who collaborate with the film industry and participate in historical reenactment events in Italy and Europe. The group has a rich array of uniforms and materials, including a functioning field kitchen, pack and draft animals, cannons, and rifles that are exact reproductions of those from that era. This offers the public the opportunity to touch and see materials that are normally not accessible.
For lunch, to make the representation even more authentic, troops' rations will be served from a functioning Goulaschkanone on military mess kits, and those who wish can enjoy war coffee made from dried figs used by the Austrian imperial army.
With a sweet flavor and a dark, intense color, it will be prepared according to the original recipe utilized by the Austrian imperial army.
The event is organized by the Siorpaes family of the Averau refuge with the intention of promoting the history of the Lagazuoi 5 Torri area between the Giau and Falzarego passes where the largest open-air museum of the Great War in the Dolomites is located.
