Museo Forte Tre Sassi

Descrizione

The Museo Forte Tre Sassi, on the slopes of Sass de Stria on the Passo Valparola, is one of the most interesting testimonies of the Great War on the Dolomite front.

Built in 1897 to defend the southern borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire against the Italian army, the fort was renovated in 1910.

After a few weeks of war, the fortress was hit and riddled by bombs fired from the Cinque Torri, and then evacuated with retreat to the Selletta del Sass de Stria. The Fort was renovated and reopened in 2003.

It exhibits the equipment and objects used daily by the soldiers, over 2,000 pieces of war materials, the result of research by the Lancedelli family.
