Description

From the centre of Cortina you’ll cycle to Son dei Prade, where you’ll take the brand new Cortina Skyline cable car, also open during the summer months from the 2023 season onwards. An exciting journey between the imposing wall of the Rozes and the unmistakable spires of the Cinque Torri, which in 15 minutes joins the 4.5 km that separate Son dei Prade and Bai de Dones in a straight line, in a journey through the Ampezzo Dolomites from a privileged point of view. The route reveals the best of what the Queen of the Dolomites has to offer: starting from Son dei Prade, you leave behind the Cortina valley embraced by Faloria, Cristallo, Pomagagnon and, on the right, Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago, Lastron de Formin. After passing the intermediate station of Cianzopé, you’ll finally arrive at Bai de Dones. Ascend again with the Cinque Torri chairlift to the Rifugio Scoiattoli, where you’ll enjoy a wonderful view: the Tofane behind you, the Averau silhouetted in the sky, and the Cinque Torri so close you’ll feel like you can touch them. Get on your bikes again and head for the Rifugio Averau, one of the longest running mountain huts in Cortina. Descend along path 441 towards Falzarego. Once at the Pass, follow the Strada de La Vena, an ancient road that connected the Miniere del Fursil del Colle Santa Lucia to the smelting furnaces of the Castello di Andraz. It is a road with a very pleasant rise and fall in the woods with a view of the villages below, well maintained and signposted, which allows you to take a tour around Monte Pore. The tour continues in the direction of Passo Giau until you reach the Rifugio Fedare. From here go up again to the Rifugio Averau (on your bike or carrying it on the chairlift), then descend towards the Rifugio Cinque Torri and, following path 424, towards the return to the centre of Cortina.
