The itinerary starts at the top of the Faloria Cable Car, accessible from the bus station in the centre of Cortina.
Go down slightly along the track bearing left. This will lead to an old building, used as a location for the 1993 movie “Cliffhanger” starring Sylvester Stallone.
The start is a bit tight, but the slope widens as you descend, offering wide views of the Cortina valley. There are several entry channels for this descent, but make sure to assess them in advance based on the snow conditions. Once in the woods, bearing right, you face a last steep stretch in the middle of the larches until you reach the intermediate station of the cable car, from where you can return to the top for a second descent. Alternatively, continue past the middle station and descend until you reach the start.
Another option is to continue to the left on a beautiful slope, arriving at Baita Fraina (where you can leave a second vehicle, or return by taxi). Considered a demanding off-road trip in the past, today it’s a very popular trip given the possibility of returning to the top quickly by cable car.
This option, however, should not be underestimated.
It is strongly advisable to rely on Mountain Guides and consult the snow and meteorological service before any trip.
