Scenic freeride with a drop of 850 meters, medium difficulty, starting from Lagazuoi and descending along the Col dei Bos.
Like all the mountains in this area, the Col dei Bos was the scene of bloody fighting in World War I between Italians and Austro-Hungarians between 1915 and 1918. The canal takes its name from an old restaurant near Passo Falzarego that was managed at the time by an elderly lady called “La Nonna” (“ra nona” in Ladin).
Take the Lagazuoi cable car up to the arrival station at 2,800 meters. From here the descent begins, facing the majestic Tofana di Rozes. On your left you’ll see the wild Val Travenanzes and on your right the Cinque Torri.
Start by skiing along the beaten track up to some large avalanche shelters. From here, continue off-road to Forcella Lagazuoi and then diagonally to the entrance of the canal. The channel is at first quite wide. From the middle onwards it becomes narrower but not particularly steep (maximum slope 37°) nor technical.
The descent, facing south, is very suggestive, framed by the walls and spires of Mount Col dei Bos and the Torri del Falzarego. To return to Passo Falzarego, take the Col Gallina or the Cinque Torri ski lifts and then reconnect with the car park.
It is strongly advisable to rely on Mountain Guides and consult the snow and meteorological service before any hike.
The indicated time is for a round trip.
Winter clothing, ski mountaineering equipment, avalanche rescue kit (ARTVA, shovel, probe).
