Easy route, popular even after snowfall given the safety of the route, which offers an extraordinary view of the Dolomites.
The starting point of this route is about 3 km below Passo Giau, at an altitude of 2,000 m, where you can leave your car in a small car park bearing the “Casera Giau” sign on the side of the road. From there, follow path 436 to the south and you’ll reach the slopes below the Lastoi de Formin.
Now climb slightly to the right, where the slope is smaller, until you reach the scenic Forcella Giau.
The descent takes place on the same ascent route.
Given its exposure, the route can be followed until late spring, but it is strongly advisable to rely on Mountain Guides and consult the snow and meteorological service before any hike.
