Cortina is located in the heart of the Dolomites, one of the most beautiful and spectacular climbing areas in the Alps. Climbing is almost exclusively on the Dolomia, a sedimentary rock rich in cracks of various sizes; in the case of the Dolomia Principale, there are often ledges, roofs and square holds, due to the particular stratification of the rock.
In Cortina d’Ampezzo, there are more than 1,000 classic and modern routes to discover climbing in the Dolomites, universally known for their natural beauty and recognised as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
The Lino Lacedelli climbing gym offers more than 80 indoor routes from 3b to 8b+ on a maximum height of 24 metres and up to 30 metres.
Bouldering is a speciality practised on boulders of fairly low height, without the use of a rope but with the use of protective mattresses that are placed at the base of the boulders. It was practised in the early 1970s in the United States, both as training and as a speciality in itself. The Dolomite rock makes it more difficult but providing beautiful lines of all difficulties. Most of the boulders are of medium-low difficulty; however, there are also boulders of high difficulty ranging from 7c+ to 8b.
