Mountain range of the Eastern Dolomites
The Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites covers 11,200 hectares north of Cortina, on the border between Veneto and South Tyrol.

The Dolomia gives the mountains a special light shade: this is why the Dolomites are also called Pale Mountains.
At dawn and sunset, however, the Dolomia takes on a pink-ish to fiery red colour: the phenomenon, called Enrosadira, is a wonder of nature clearly visible on summer evenings, when the air is particularly clear and twilight is longer.
The Dolomites were a collection of shells, corals and algae immersed in a tropical sea.
The Dolomites emerged from the water and began to be shaped by weather and geological eras.
The Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites was established and its management given to the Regole d’Ampezzo.
UNESCO declares the Dolomites a World Natural Heritage Site for their beauty, unique landscape and scientific importance at geological and geomorphological level.
