Rifugio Lagazuoi
Rifugio Lagazuoi
From the Passo Falzarego, you can take the cable car in just a few minutes to Rifugio Lagazuoi: Cortina's highest mountain hut, at an altitude of 2,752 metres. The mountain hut is an ideal rest stop - from the terrace there is a spectacular view to the south and west over a sea of mountains. From the mountain hut, follow the path, accessible to all. In about 15 minutes, between paths and fortifications from the Great War, it will lead to the summit of the Piccolo Lagazuoi near the famous wooden crucifix that commemorates the victims of the First World War and is the highest point of the hike. Along the way, you can admire a great variety of flowers that enrich the barren, rocky terrain with a thousand colours during the summer season. Some species, such as the Artemisia Genepì, are very rare and have found an ideal habitat near the mountain hut. From the summit, you can admire a splendid panorama to the north-west and take in the view of the majestic mountains: the Tofana di Rozes, Croda da Lago and the Cinque Torri, the Marmolada glacier with its perennial snows, Piz Boè and the Civetta. Retrace the path to the Lagazuoi cable car station, just below the hut: here you will find a high-altitude museum, the Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti, which offers exhibitions and photographic displays and can be visited free of charge. The exhibition spaces are equipped with ramps and a lift, and are wheelchair-accessible. After the visit, you can reach Passo Falzarego again with the lift.

This path is also accessible for wheelchairs and buggies, but don't forget that it is a high mountain path with no protection. The adjacent Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomites exhibition spaces are also equipped with ramps and a lift and can be visited with a wheelchair.
