Astaldi equipped trail

Description

The Astaldi equipped path is suitable for everyone: families and those who want to get deeper into the world of via ferratas. The route progresses at the base of the Tofana and does not present particular technical difficulties, but it is nevertheless exposed and very airy. The peculiarity of the route lies in the geological interest of the colourful rock, of various shades ranging from red to black, green to brown. The trail connects the Rifugio Dibona to Pomedes (or vice versa) and is often combined with other trips such as the Via Ferrata Olivieri Punta Anna or the Via Ferrata Tofana di Mezzo. From Cortina take the SS48 road towards the Passo Falzarego, go past Ciasa Vervei restaurant and the small church of Vervei and continue for about 500 metres to the Fedarola crossroads on the road, and finally go up the road to the Rifugio Dibona. The second part of the road is a dirt track but in good condition. From Rifugio Dibona take path 403 towards Rifugio Giussani until the crossroads, where the signs will indicate the start of the equipped path. Follow the path on the right, to the top of a green hill to the base of the Tofana. This is the beginning of the equipped path that progresses at the base of the Tofana and runs along the entire ledge to the Rifugio Pomedes at 2,303 m. The route is mostly flat, with some ups and downs – the peculiarity lies in the colourful rock that goes from red to black, green to brown, as well as the many animals that can be spotted along the way. The Astaldi equipped path can also be done in reverse, starting from Pomedes and arriving at the Rifugio Dibona, with the same difficulty and duration.
