A demanding route that offers an exciting descent in a highly varied environment, dominated by the main Dolomite peaks.
The hike starts from the Peziè de Parù bridge over Passo Giau following path 434. Entering the forest, the slope increases until you reach the Cason de Formin, a small, very characteristic wooden cabin. At the junction with path 435, take the latter and walk through the majestic Val Formin until you find yourself under the Adi fork, always staying under the western walls of the Croda da Lago. The climb to the fork turns out to be quite steep, so much so that it has to be tackled with skis on your shoulders. Once at the top, on the other side you’ll have spectacular views of Pelmo, Becco di Mezzodì and a part of the Rocchette di Prendera. The descent must be tackled in the same direction as the ascent.
The canal will offer a memorable experience: initially steep and narrow and nestled between rocky walls, from the middle onwards it will open, becoming gradually less difficulty, until you reach Val Formin.
The last part, in the woods, is a bit more uncomfortable but with fun snow conditions.
