Rifugio Dibona
Rifugio Dibona
A hike of great naturalistic interest that crosses environments of high biodiversity, among the richest and most intact of the Ampezzo Dolomites. From Rifugio Dibona take path 403, in the direction of Rifugio Giussani, to the junction with path 404. After a short flat section, the path begins to wind its way up to the base of the south face of the majestic Tofana di Rozes, one of Cortina's iconic mountains. Follow path 404, skirting the imposing Tofana rock face, to Forcella Col dei Bos. The spectacular view offers a panorama of some of the most beautiful mountains in the Valle d’Ampezzo: from the Cinque Torri, Averau, Nuvolau, Croda da Lago and Lastoi de Formin to Antelao and Sorapis. From Forcella Col dei Bos you can see some military remains and the entrance to the Castelletto Tunnel on the Tofana di Rozes, one of the many Great War tunnels in the Ampezzo area, which are part of the well-known Lipella Via Ferrata. Before starting the descent along path 402, observe the opposite slope from the pass, with views of the Fanis peaks, Torre Travenanzes and the long, wild Val Travenanzes. Descend to the junction with path 412, where you can enjoy a wonderful panorama and observe the military road used during the Great War, which gently ascends from Cason di Rozes, also passing through a short tunnel carved into the rock. Take path 412 and follow it until you reach the starting point at Rifugio Dibona. The mountain hut, originally built during the Great War and later dedicated to the well-known mountain guide Angelo Dibona, has a large scenic terrace and excellent cuisine. Don't miss the casunziei, tagliolini with blueberries, mascarpone cheese and speck, and apple strudel.
