Description

From the Sant Hubertus car park, also known as "tornichè", take path 6, to the left of the main asphalted road, towards Malga Ra Stua. The slightly uphill path is immersed in a forest of firs, pines and larches, and in the last section takes you close to the Boite stream, which in this section offers views of several waterfalls, cascades and canyons. This final section of the path is called "Souto de Ra Stua" and is very scenic with surprising views. It has in fact been equipped with a series of bridges that allow the natural spectacle to be fully enjoyed. In the spring season, the waterfalls and the watercourse are particularly spectacular, thanks to the abundant water from melting snow. A few minutes after "Souto de Ra Stua", the forest opens up revealing a beautiful pastureland and the characteristic mountain cottage, an excellent place to stop for a break: Malga Ra Stua is uniquely beautiful and has typical Ampezzo architecture. It is located within the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites and cows and horses grazing can be seen nearby. The vast meadows and rolling hills that surround it are an ideal place for a pleasant break, allowing you to relax in a wonderfully serene environment. In the car park below the mountain cottage you will find a wonderful wooden "book case" made by the students of the Liceo Artistico di Cortina, in collaboration with the Regole and the Ulda. In the Ampezzo language "brascion" means "tree": the librascion is therefore a book-bearing tree. There you will find a selection of books for young and old: read what you like best and, if you like, bring one or more books to add to the librascion collection to make the next passer-by's hike even more enjoyable. For the return journey, you can follow the same route as the outward journey or go down the asphalted road.
