Descrizione

A 48 km circular route that starts and ends in Corso Italia in Cortina.

The route includes stunning areas, such as the Tofane, the Cinque Torri and the Croda da Lago and has a positive drop of 2,727 m.

Starting from the centre of Cortina, take the SS 51 towards Dobbiaco and continue towards Cadin until you reach path 416/409 towards Passo Posporcora, at the foot of Col Rosà. Here you’ll find yourself in the pristine forest of the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites. Going down, take path 401 and 404 and go back up the long and wild Val Travenanzes for several kilometres. On your left you’ll see the Tofane Group and on your right first the Vallon Bianco and then the Gruppo Fanis. Continue along the valley to Forcella Col dei Bos, where you can enjoy an enchanting view: from Croda da Lago and Cinque Torri to Marmolada.

Continue downhill along path 402 until you reach path 423 with a left deviation to the Rifugio Col Gallina. From here, cross the road downhill onto path 424 and then take path 440 towards Cinque Torri. Continue climbing until you reach the characteristic Rifugio Averau, located between Monte Averau and Monte Nuvolau. Once you reach it, go down the dirt road until you reach path 452 on the left, which you should follow until you reach the Passo Giau, from where you can admire the Valle d’Ampezzo and the mountains that surround it.

After crossing the road onto path 436 towards Forcella Giau and Forcella Ambrizzola, continue on path 434 through the wild Mondeval valley to Croda da Lago, with its characteristic mountain hut and enchanting Lago Federa. From here, take path 431 towards Lago d’Ajal and then 428 which leads to the characteristic Ladin village of Mortisa and then down to Cortina.
