A 20km route with 1,000 m of elevation gain allowing you to experience the thrill of running along the Lavaredo 20k race route, starting from the centre of Cortina and climbing up to the scenic Forcella Zumeles before returning to Cortina through the Larieto larch forest.
From the centre of Cortina, take the Ciclabile delle Dolomiti, the former railway, north towards Dobbiaco and continue for a few kilometres towards Fiames. Just before reaching the Fiames sports centre, take path 218 which will take you to the base of Mount Pomagagnon along an uphill path, sometimes through the woods.
Once at the foot of the imposing Pomagagnon, continue the path towards Monte Cristallo, then take path 211. Continue until you reach path 204 which will take you up the steep bends leading you to the top of the scenic Forcella Zumeles. From the fork you can admire the entire Ampezzo valley from above, surrounded by some of the most beautiful Dolomite peaks: Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago, Pelmo, Cinque Torri and Tofane. From here, continue right towards the Cristallo ski slopes along path 205.
On your left you can admire the majestic Monte Cristallo, the Staunies and Forcella Staunies canyons and the characteristic Rifugio Son Forca.
From here the descent begins, first along the winter ski slope and then for a stretch in the woods along path 206 towards El Brite de Larieto.
Once you reach the farmhouse, continue through the enchanting Larieto larch forest to the Rifugio Mietres, where you can once again admire an enchanting view of the Conca Ampezzana and Pomagagnon. Continue the descent along path 204 towards Col Tondo-Chiamulera-Guargnè until you reach the Dolomites cycle path again.
From here, you’ll be back in the centre of Cortina in a few minutes.
