Trail Running route that runs inside the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, the Fanes Park and the Sennes and Braies Park, allowing visitors to savour every facet of the Dolomites. Starting from the centre of Cortina, head towards the station to take the former railway cycle path towards Fiames.
Once you reach the “Antonella De Rigo” sports centre, continue along the railway and then pass through a tunnel, a bridge and another tunnel. On the left, take a dirt road and take path 201, going under the underpass of State Road 51 and then going down to Sant’Uberto (just above Tornichè). From here, take the asphalt road towards Ra Stua until you reach the mountain cottage with the same name. Once you arrive in this little paradise full of grazing animals and flat meadows, keep straight along path 6 to reach the second stop: the Rifugio Sennes.
Most of the route winds through the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites, the Natural Park of Fanes and the Natural Park of Sennes and Braies. The path between the two mountain huts is quite steep but allows you to experience a variety of locations: pastures, lunar-like landscapes, thick forest and the incredible Dolomite panoramas. Once you reach the mountain hut, take path 7 to Fodara Vedla: this will gently take you to the third stage through an open path featuring meadows and pastures.
The Rifugio Fodara offers a very evocative view of the valley below, especially at sunset. From here take path 9 which will take you back to Malga Ra Stua, passing by a small lake and a downhill road. Once you arrive at the mountain hut, to return to Cortina d’Ampezzo, retrace the path you took on the outward journey.
