Description

On the sixth day, set off from the Rifugio Col Gallina, taking path 419 in the direction of the Rifugio Averau, passing along the enchanting little Lìmides alpine lake. Once you arrive at the Rifugio Averau, continue along path 452 up to the Passo Giau. On reaching the pass, cross the road and then take path 436 to Forcella Ambrizzola. From here, take path 434 that leads to the Rifugio Croda da Lago, where you can stay for the last night. Alternatively, you can continue along dirt road 432 to Malga Federa and spend the night there, having walked a total of 110 km. Indicative travel times: From Rifugio Col Gallina (2,034 m) to Rifugio Averau (2,413 m): 1 hour 30 min approx. From Rifugio Averau (2,413 m) to Berghotel Passo Giau (2,236 m): 1 hour 30 min approx. From Berghotel Passo Giau (2,236 m) to Rifugio Croda da Lago (2,046 m): 3 hours 30 min approx. From Rifugio Croda da Lago (2,046 m) to Malga Federa (1,861 m): 30 minutes approx. Variants

(Continues option b of stage 5). From Rifugio Dibona, set off in the direction of Rifugio Cinque Torri, Rifugio Scoiattoli, Rifugio Averau. If you spent the night at the Rifugio Giussani, descend along path 403 to the Rifugio Dibona, from here cross the car park to the left of the mountain hut and take the steep path 421 to the scenic Rifugio Pomedes. Then descend along path 420 up to the Rifugio Duca d'Aosta, from where you can admire the famous Schuss ski slope of the Ski World Cup. Continue along path 405 until it crosses and embarks on path 403, and path 406 the moment you cross it. Continue to the right along path 406 in the direction of Malga Pezié de Parù, until you meet path 424, which will lead you right to the Malga. Pass the Malga and continue along the uphill path 424 to the junction with path 439. Then take path 439 and climb up to Rifugio Cinque Torri, where you can stay overnight. Alternatively, continue on to Rifugio Scoiattoli, another overnight accommodation option at the foot of the Cinque Torri. For more experienced hikers, you can continue climbing along path 439 to Rifugio Averau, or continue further along path 464 leading to Rifugio Fedare or path 452 that leads to the Berghotel Passo Giau, where you can stay overnight. A further option is to take path 443 and then path 444 that leads up to Malga Giau, where you can stay and enjoy a wonderful view of the Lastoi de Formin and Croda da Lago.
