Starting from the Rio Gere car park, take path 211, which leads to the characteristic El Brite de Larieto mountain cottage. Continue along the forest road with the same path 211, passing the fork that descends briefly to Rifugio Mietres, a possible rest stop offering a beautiful view of Cortina and the Tofane mountains from a terrace with a sauna and barrel bath, until you reach the junction with path 204, which ascends rapidly, with more than 300 m of elevation gain, to Forcella Zumèles. The fatigue of the steep ascent is compensated by the view of the entire Valle d’Ampezzo, which can be enjoyed from the 2,072 m of the fork. At this point, continue on path 204, descending to the junction with the convenient forest track 203, which you will take to the left to continue descending in the direction of Ospitale. You are now in the Val Padeón, squeezed between the Pomagagnon on the left and the Cristallo group, which stands out imposingly on the right. Continue the gentle descent among trees and grassy clearings, until you reach the SS 51 di Alemagna at Ospitale, where the mountain hut of the same name has been welcoming travellers and traders for over 700 years, offering an ambience and cuisine steeped in history and tradition.
