Descrizione

Extraordinary Trail Running route that runs along the Croda da Lago, passing through woods and one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites.

Route that runs along the Croda da Lago, starting from one of the most characteristic villages in Cortina and passing through woods and Lago Federa, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. The route winds south of the valley, in the Croda da Lago area. Starting from the centre, head towards the Lungo Boite bridge and cross it. Then go left and before the car park take the sloping road on the right. Climb up through the village of Crignes.

At a certain point the road forks: continue uphill on the right towards Melères. Once you have crossed the village, cross the Strada Statale 48 and enter the village of Lacedel in the direction of the ski slopes, located immediately behind the houses.

On the right you should find the Baby chairlift of Socrepes. Take path 403 on your left, which will take you with a slight climb to Pocol. From here, continue along the provincial road 638 (towards Passo Giau) up to Peziè de Parù and once you arrive in the area, take path 434 before Malga Peziè de Parù which will take you directly to Croda da Lago.

The route, slightly uphill and immersed in the woods, will take you to the majestic Croda da Lago. Once you reach the crossroads, stay left and continue along path 434, which will take you along the entire length of the mountain. Continue along the path until you reach the Rifugio Palmieri, nestled on the shores of Lago Federa, a small oasis of paradise that will leaves speechless. The atmosphere you experience once you arrive at the mountain hut is unique: the colours, the nature and the Becco di Mezzodì in front make Lago Federa one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the Dolomites. Continue to Forcella Ambrizzola and take path 435 on the right. This will take you between Croda da Lago and Lastoi de Formin through a surreal, almost lunar atmosphere due to the presence of Dolomite rocks. After completing the climb, the rest of the route is completely downhill.

Continue on the path until it joins path 434, and from there you can then return to Cortina following the route you took on the way there.
