Gores de Federa

Description

Gores de Federa (Federa Gorge) is the new path created by the Regole d'Ampezzo, which leads through the Federa forest to the mountain cottage of the same name. Leaving your vehicle in the car park 50 m after Lago Pianozes, walk along the asphalt road until you reach Col Purin, located about 45 minutes above Lago Pianozes. Here you will find a wooden sign indicating the start of the Gores di Federa route. The route is located within the pristine Federa forest and runs between gentle climbs and descents, past waterfalls, gorges and water rivulets, crossing several suspension bridges over the Ru Federa and viewpoints over the Valle d’Ampezzo. After about an hour and a half's walk, you’ll arrive at the Malga Federa, a point from which an exceptional panorama opens up before you: Becco di Mezzodì on one side, Pomagagnon, Cristallo and Faloria on the other. You can then return by following the same route, or by taking a loop that takes about two hours to reach the starting point again along the asphalt road. More experienced hikers can instead continue to the Rifugio Croda da Lago.
