Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites Information Point - Fiames
This hike is ideal for admiring the variety of landscapes and habitats that make up the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites. The area is inhabited by various animals, including owls and chamois, and the Sempervivum dolomiticum, a rare endemic plant symbol of the park, can be found there. From the Natural Park Information Office car park in Fiames, take the shuttle bus to Malga Ra Stua. From the mountain cottage, take path 6 through trees, meadows and the cows that often graze here. When the path splits, keep to the right and continue on path 6: you are at Cianpo de Cros, where the springs of the Boite, Cortina's abundant and crystal-clear water stream, are located. Continue up the Val Salata to the Rifugio Sennes. From here, ascend along path 6A to the karstic plateau of Col de ra Sciores. A short descent takes us back to the little road that leads to the Rifugio Biella, passing below the south face of the Croda del Beco with its sloping rock strata. Here the environment becomes more barren and rocky as you climb to the 2,327 m Rifugio Biella, which offers hearty mountain fare. Take path 26 to begin the descent, and you will pass three small alpine lakes: Lago Gran de Foses, Lago Pizo and Lago de ra Rémeda Rosses. Then reconnect with path 6 at Cianpo de Cros, and from here return to Malga ra Stua and the car park.
Malga Ra Stua, Rifugio Sennes, Rifugio Biella
