Route that winds entirely along a single path, beginning at the valley floor and leading directly to the heart of the Tofane at 2,580 m, passing through scree and zigzags. Spectacular trail with views of the entire Valle Ampezzana that winds entirely eastwards, towards the Tofane.
Starting from the centre, head towards the Lungo Boite bridge and cross it. Then go left and before the car park take the sloping road on the right. Climb up through the village of Crignes. At a certain point the road forks: continue uphill on the right towards Melères.
Once you have crossed the village, cross the Strada Statale 48 and enter the village of Lacedel towards the ski slopes located immediately behind the houses. On the right you should find the Baby chairlift of Socrepes. Take path 403 on your left.
This will take you through Pocol, Son dei Prade, Malghe Fedarola, Rifugio Dibona, finally climbing to the well-known Rifugio Giussani, in the heart of the Tofane, at 2,580 metres above sea level. It is a very scenic and intense route.
Most of it is uphill, the drop is large – starting from 1,224 m which is the centre of Cortina, at the Rifugio Giussani it is approximately 1,350 m. The effort is worth it as the view of the Conca Ampezzana once you reach the top is priceless, and you will not want to miss the famous hairpin bends before you reach Giussani.
For the return, follow the same route as the outward journey.
